About
After playing as the guitarist in many local groups (<a href="spotify:artist:085tajeYSr3BlzvlBKjZ5z" data-name="Cacartu">Cacartu</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3lRZSsxJo4vFneKTYoW5od" data-name="Hoi Palloi">Hoi Palloi</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0es0Z70qWbp3p8uSGx27uJ" data-name="Pigeon Presents">Pigeon Presents</a>), Naarm/Melbourne based musician Kyle Muir decided to dive into the world of freak-folk songwriting, DIY production and general sonic mayhem. This is how <a href="spotify:artist:48MB6Gsxy34faO7jbkDbDZ" data-name="Wybie">Wybie</a> was born. Wybie’s harmonious yet wonky music has been likened to artists like <a href="spotify:artist:2iUVQjheBnvOt8vaBrxXJz" data-name="Cass McCombs">Cass McCombs</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6lcwlkAjBPSKnFBZjjZFJs" data-name="Alex G">Alex G</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5VF0YkVLeVD4ytyiyVSIiF" data-name="Dirty Projectors">Dirty Projectors</a>, but their kinky indie-rock draws from music all over the globe. 2020 saw the release of Wybie’s second EP, <a href="spotify:album:5CafCWOGayJheJHHargwsf" data-name="Wybie's Mansion">Wybie's Mansion</a>, recorded during Victoria’s lockdown in an old ammunition factory in Coburg North. The music from this EP was mostly recorded by Muir, with appearances from several guests including <a href="spotify:artist:0JqtAg591qyiHPjQ1r0j9Y" data-name="Imogen Cygler">Imogen Cygler</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1HUOIqzmnRWxjt4z76nkrB" data-name="Moses Carr">Moses Carr</a> and others. The EP was released by Stargazed records, a small label featuring audiovisual artists. Since then Wybie has blossomed into a solid 5 piece band featuring some of Melbourne’s most talented young musicians including <a href="spotify:artist:2fgzGwvd3tcOKeqJMb1EmU" data-name="Flora Carbo">Flora Carbo</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:6G2WlEfj7V0UH9RC4yCg4I" data-name="The Rest Is Silence">The Rest Is Silence</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:36lpplTcKjzzmqtrC6YJBx" data-name="Andrea Keller">Andrea Keller</a>), <a href="spotify:artist:3KVvDAitKHTmt3SurrCMI1" data-name="Hannah McKittrick">Hannah McKittrick</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:1Y3IqLN3JkfppIbJG2IWHk" data-name="Maple Glider">Maple Glider</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3lRZSsxJo4vFneKTYoW5od" data-name="Hoi Palloi">Hoi Palloi</a>), Isaac Gunnoo (<a href="spotify:artist:6zdezqzQF6UyMqd7c9aYJa" data-name="The Maes">The Maes</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:01lbqGTSuT9Jr3gMwiF3Xw" data-name="Didirri">Didirri</a>), and Kyrie Anderson (<a href="spotify:artist:4IszB4IvfBur47pa0bm1sr" data-name="Tom West">Tom West</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:29cbR8qe2REdW3oaLqSwRT" data-name="Seabass">Seabass</a>). 'Seconds' will be out on August 19, the first track off Wybie's upcoming debut LP 'We are the Kids'
