About
Taking their name from the Dutch; meaning home, abode or domicile, woon was built as a sanctuary for those who reside in it. Built upon the foundations of previously (and current) well-loved alternative rock bands from Hastings (<a href="spotify:artist:3eSosW9FzseZCXQjpFCURG" data-name="Forever Home">Forever Home</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5k3NPFQRBwTY9lzkSc1vZY" data-name="Somnians">Somnians</a>, Blabbermouth, Dory the Wise) they have quickly become a household name in the U.K.’s south-east independent music scene. Blending their love of obscure American indie, grunge and nineties slacker rock, as well as a subtle nod towards the mid-west’s serious pop sensibilities, the quartet create a sense of familiarity that still manages to sound fresh. Their debut single 'Pet Names' was lauded as "a deliciously grungey gem" (BBC Introducing), "an instant hit" (Rock Era Magazine), "a captivating alt-rock success" (Obscure Sound) and 'the start of something magical" (It's All Indie), amongst other high praise. Dark and fuzzed up guitars set the tone for their brooding debut E.P. ‘Play Nice’, whilst in quite a contrast, their latest offering ‘432 HURTZ’ suggests a much more optimistic follow-up for the second E.P., ‘PURE FUCKIN’ JOY FOREVER’. With the addition of a new member and, seemingly, a new outlook on life. written by Harry Lebowski
