About
Turning loss into luckiness, VIKA (inspired by her Russian given name, Viktoria Nikolevna) infuses retro rock with deep blues and jazz instrumentation alongside her hauntingly dreamy Amy Winehouse - esque vocals. Coining a unique vintage sound swirling with themes of nostalgia, luck, and love, the soul of VIKA’s artistry was inspired by the sound of her brother’s piano. Adopted from Veliky Novgorod, Russia and raised in a household where jazz filled the air, music became more than just sounds for VIKA and laid the foundation for her to craft a shimmering, soulful musical landscape all her own that bridges both her past and future. At 16, VIKA won Battle of the Bands for her single, “70s Haze”, offering her the opportunity to record the track live at a home studio in Spokane, WA. Since then, the single has garnered over 4 million streams on Spotify and praise from fans of all stripes in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. VIKA follows the cosmic powers of luck and love as she navigates the complexities of heartache, hope, and self-discovery, establishing herself as a standout artist in the indie rock landscape at large - reminding listeners that luck isn’t found, it’s created.
