Under The Elms

About

UNDER THE ELMS is a dewy Danish duo made up of two voices and a guitar, who meet in a universe of curious two-parts, youth stories and indiecana. Behind the name, UNDER THE ELMS, you find the sisters Emma and Emilie Frimann, who have been singing together since early childhood - and you can hear it. In fact, their vocals float so freely in and out of the harmonies that the ear often experiences it as one voice. In terms of sound, the expression is varied but with clear parallels to Americana and the singer-songwriter tradition. Imagine if you mix Feist, Phoebe Bridgers, Emmylou Harris and added two international sounding vocals. Then you have UNDER THE ELMS. Lyrically, their songs revolve around finding one's place between a youth and an adult life, where one's ideas are put to the test by a pandemic. A time which has been both hard but also creatively rewarding for the two sisters, who in their stories are striking a blow for optimism and hope.
