About
I was 14 when my older brother got a keyboard. He was set to start his vocal performance degree in the fall, and piano is vital for this major. The keyboard lived in our shared bedroom. My curiosity got the best of me one day as I began explore its sounds. I started to notice there were sections where every other white key sounded nice together. My love of creating chords began while I was sat here; between the two loft beds my father lovingly crafted for us. When it came time for me to venture to college, I put music on the backburner as I explored all of the growth and change this time had to offer. In many ways, I am thankful I wasn’t releasing music in this time, because I don’t think I was ready. I am grateful I took time to observe, listen, live and learn. Today, the main change is that I am finally ready to release this art as a part of who I am. A decade in the making, it is a wordlessly cathartic feeling. I think about my teenage self, so insecure of the art I put countless hours into. I wish I could tell him to unrepentantly love that art for what it is. For me, music is expression and release. Brian Schnell, who provides percussion throughout the album, showcases the same in his beautiful rhythmic contributions. I’m still writing my story, but this chapter is complete. My debut album “Melodically Numb” will be released January 1st, 2025 at 8PM.
