Trial Tapes
Liverpool, ENG, United Kingdom
About
𖦹 Queerbaked Scuzz 𖦹 Trial Tapes is the synth-washed indie rock project of Liverpool-based queer songwriter and producer Jack McNally. Born out of a period of personal upheaval and reflection, the project took shape between 2022 and 2024 after McNally returned home, newly out of the closet and reconnecting with music for the first time in nearly a decade. Blending warped guitars, motorik drums, and lush analogue synths with emotionally candid lyrics, Trial Tapes delivers a sound that’s raw, scuzzy, and quietly defiant. Influences range from Kim Deal and Jai Paul to T. Rex and Courtney Barnett, all reinterpreted through a distinctively queer lens. Trial Tapes’ debut EP 5 Notes arrives in November, with lead single Coughing Fits out August 1st.
