About
Crafted in the desert sun in late 2019 in light of a local battle of the band's competition in their hometown of Yuma, AZ. THP is three-piece rock n roll band making their debut release EP in 2020. Having come together and written two tracks for a local competition, the group took home a five thousand dollar cash prize for their original songs. Thus established the momentum for the recording of those tracks in tandem with sparking the fire for two more tracks written for the four song debut EP. Each member, Kurtis Koogle, Ray Clayton, and Tyler Alford all come from diverse and similar musical influences spanning from 60s 70s and 80s rock, to modern metal, and Americana to boot. The band’s first trial in the studio started with the recording of the their first EP in Joshua Tree, CA with accomplished studio engineer/producer Charlie Stavish. Recording and mixing all four tracks in three days in Stavish’s all analog studio, The Clocktower Recorder. Stavish, having suggested recording straight to analog tape live; the band opted for that stripped down, raw approach in order to preserve the nature of their electric live performances that remains a core component of their ethos. Returning to the roots and processes of their influenced predecessors. In the span of three months, the inception of the band came to fruition in tandem writing and recording a 4 song EP, releasing their first single and opening for Grand Funk Railroad has invigorated the group’s absolute momentum
