About
Thousandaire is a regular rock band whose members are Andrew Wiggins (guitar/vocals), Adam Weisberg (drums), and Chad LeBlanc (bass). Formed in 2018 in Atlanta, Ga. A brainchild based on concepts and material from Wiggins dating back to 2008. The self-titled debut full-length was recorded in September 2019 at Standard Electric Recorders by Damon Moon. The band’s debut self-titled LP (out summer 2020 via Colonel Records) presents 30 minutes of solid, concise songwriting with a minimum of extraneous overdubs or unnecessary goings-on. The feel is stark and raw, but by no means unpolished or rough around the edges. The lyrics ride the line between experience and invention, ambiguously setting a scene of substance abuse, life as a barfly, drug dealers and losers, without ever providing explicit personal judgement or moral rectitude. But enough of that. The drums sound like you’re standing in front of them, the bass pushes your jeans back, and the guitars sound like a bomb is going off. All while side-stepping any aggressive, tough-guy tendencies of the idiom. FFO: Silkworm, Pinebender, Chavez, Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr., the Groundhogs, Pavement, Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters, ‘90s Neil Young and Crazy Horse, latter-day Wipers. Or, if you’re a lazy music writer, “Dinosaur Jr. meets Neil Young with a dash of Pavement.”
