The Winter War

About

The Winter War is a musical project from Billings, Montana. Formed in February 2023 by Drew Christiansen, The Winter War immediately began recording, finding a growing audience to enjoy their unique sound. Their sound draws on many influences, both old and new. 2nd wave emo (midwestern emo) bands such as The Appleseed Cast, Christie Front Drive, Mineral, Elliott, Texas is the Reason, and Knapsack framed Drew’s musical sensibilities. Shoegaze and Slowcore bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Low, and Slowdive have also played a large influence, as well as Alternative/Rock bands such as The Killers, The Boxer Rebellion, and The National. If you were to catch Drew out running an errand, he would likely being listening to a Post Rock band, such as Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, Mogwai, or Hammock. Drew began his musical career in Prescott, Arizona, but currently resides in Billings, MT, with his beautiful wife, Christina, and his son, David. All songs are written and performed by Drew, with vocal contributions from Christina, and some writing contributions on the song "Hop Along" from his old bandmates Kit Tang and Danny Ghan.
