About
The Way Down Wanderers sing like angels yet write with guts, creating unmistakably earthbound songs. Hailing from the Midwest, the group crafts music that’s both rootsy and refreshingly modern, with lyrics that explore themes of love, change, and connection. The music begs an unapologetically Pollyanna question, like a big-hearted dare: Can a song help save you? Working in that sweet spot where self-acceptance and rejection of the status-quo collide, The Way Down Wanderers hope listeners can find their own personal applications and interpretations of the songs. The band's gorgeous harmonies and string-band virtuosity still anchor, but the sonic borders that The Way Down Wanderers once flirted with crossing, continue to be beautifully breached. Their vibrant live shows—complete with foot-stomping choruses and tight harmonies—have earned them spots at major festivals and glowing praise from NPR, Rolling Stone, and American Songwriter. ----- "The Way Down Wanderers intricate, hypnotic rhythms call to mind 'Bittersweet Symphony' more than bluegrass traditional." - Rolling Stone, Winter 2019 "Somewhere on the spectrum between Old Crow Medicine Show and Mumford and Sons lies the spirited bluegrass-based artistry of The Way Down Wanderers. It is joyful, daring and occasionally sublime.” - Associated Press
