About

Ritual is the first album by Brazilian band The Trial. A mix of post punk, indie rock and folk, The Trial sound is unique, sensitive and urgent. Rite Of Passage, from 'we haven't got much time and our time is now' to 'we haven't got much love that's why I'm asking now!', the opening track speaks of the urgency of life, of contact with the spirit and the search for a meaning that completes something that is still empty, or because it has been lost, or because it has never been there. Major Dances has been hoping that the dream will be fulfilled now, without defenses, by totally surrendering to what we do not know: 'but if tomorrow loose defenses, it's going to be the major dances' cause now I dance without a dream'. Present Moment speaks of a pact with the spirit 'I made a promise to my spirit, I made a promise to myself', and the need of trust to live... Ritual is a very strong poetic work of love, loss, spirit and the need for a connection with the moment of now. Sonically, you'll hear Joy Division, Smiths and REM, a certain U2 idealism, Bowie moments, Dylan and Leonard Cohen, and for those who know Brazil, Caetano and also Legião Urbana, but what remains is a unique, simple but complex sound , whose songs show an urgent desire for transcendence and love.
