About
The Mystery Divide is a musical project by singer/songwriter Joseph Mendola. Joseph began making music in 2003 by constructing piano melodies over dreamy guitar distortion, layered atop ethereal vocals, synthesizer and drums. This project was titled The Blue Romantics, a name that was inspired in part by David Lynch’s film Blue Velvet. It was an endeavor several years in the making spanning the years 2003-2006, 2011, and finally to completion in 2024. The Blue Romantics creates an atmosphere akin to Siamese Dream, Loveless, as well as a Lynchian Twin Peaks vibe. The Blue Romantics is a shoegaze rock opera that Joseph created in his late teens and early twenties. It encompasses two characters, Bella and Luigi who meet in a dream and fall deeply in love, only to have to part ways sadly as the dream comes to an end.
