The Leak
Seattle, Washington, United States
About
The Leak began with the collaboration of songwriter Taylor Clark (Great Spiders, Anthers), and guitarist Sam Peterson (Whitney Ballen, Drench Fries, Hibou, Don Piano). The two workshopped Clark’s early songs in a short-lived band and released a set of home recordings. In 2022, the band reformed with drummer Niko Wood (Shake the Baby Til the Love Comes Out, Big Scary Indian, Yr Parents), incorporating rhythms influenced by Wood’s hardcore and punk background. Engineer and producer Dylan Wall (Craft Spells, Great Grandpa, So Pitted, Weed), joined on bass and began planning a record. To make The Leak, the band hit the studio and blazed through the songs in one day, recording live to cassette. A couple evening vocal sessions and it was done, with Clark putting his spin on a timeless refrain - pinched by debt, underpaid and stuck in a rut, soaking up rays like a weed in the sun.
