About
Hailed as one of the best original bands in the 757, The JD3 Band has been bringing original blues-rock to stages all over Virginia since 2021. Breaking the mold in a town dominated by cover bands, JD3 has made a name for themselves with their electrifying live performances and memorable original tunes. Their debut EP "Homestead", ignited a wave of local recognition with songs like "Hard Drivin Woman" and the title track "Homestead". Along with local radio play, the band won "CD of the Year" at the 2022 Tidewater Music Awards. They were also nominated by Veer Magazine for "EP of the Year" and "Best Blues Band" in 2023. The band puts a modern spin on a familiar sound with influences like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top. Centered around frontman James Dowdy (JD) and held together by the amazing rhythm section of Cole Morgan (drums) and Tom Bess (bass), The JD3 Band is can't miss entertainment. Their latest single "The River", lends itself to the rock and roll temperament of the band. With compelling lyrics and use of the slide guitar, "The River" perfectly shows off the songwriting, arranging and musicianship of the band.
