About

“The Grunions” is a pioneering instrumental Surf-Jazz/Spy-Core four-piece Fusion band based in Montreal Canada. The band’s sound is heavily influenced by the classic reverb drenched surf-rock sounds of the sixties! However the diverse experience and virtuosity of each band member - Andrew Joncas (guitar), Jeremy Lear (bass) and Christian Ingelevics (drums) and Nick Teehan (saxophone and keys) – brings elements of Jazz, Psych-Rock, Soul, Lounge and Prog-Blues music to the great multi-verse of their highly rhythmic and lively performances! Formed in April of 2019, the band has quickly built a substantial repertoire of catchy danceable original tunes - such as “Make Out Island”, “El Swoncho”, ”Dr. Phantom”, and “Pork Belly” - which have proven to be crowd favorites on the festival circuit, as well as on the Montreal music scene (NDG Porchfest, St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Fest, L’Escalier, Grumpy’s, and Quai de Brumes to name a few). After recording their first singles “The Dark Comet Suite Part I & II” and “The Dark Comet Suite Part III” with recording engineer Pietro Amato (“The Luyas”, “Bell Orchestre”) at Skybarn Studio in Montreal. “The Grunions” plan on returning to the studio at the end of October to record the rest of their album “Star Fish Prime” The finest instrumental Spy-Core/Surf-Jazz ensemble to come out of Montreal! Contrary to popular belief, 2020 will be the year of The Grunions!
