Telekinetic Yeti
Dubuque, Iowa, United States
About
A heavy psych duo based out of Dubuque, Iowa, Telekinetic Yeti emerged in 2015 with a sound rooted in the doom wizardry of sonic forebears like <a href="spotify:artist:5M52tdBnJaKSvOpJGz8mfZ">Black Sabbath</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4Mt6w4tDGiPgV5q6JWPlrI">Sleep</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:0PK6ewFU4DbFB8Eqr58Sct">Acid King</a>. Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Alex Baumann and drummer Rockwel Heim, the band built a loyal following through relentless touring and independent releases like 2017's acclaimed Abominable. Before long, they were sharing the stage with high-profile contemporaries such as <a href="spotify:artist:161AC1AVRkIGIMxyj5djFQ">Clutch</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0zfT626RwO6zN3RDYeRit5">Black Label Society</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3u4HBuoQ4dgPBzX2Q9uf5S">Red Fang</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:40uWyieMnDCdIlba6Pr7xL">Weedeater</a>, and earning praise from <a href="spotify:artist:6ZLTlhejhndI4Rh53vYhrY">Ozzy Osbourne</a>'s bass player, Blasko, and a slew of online metal zines. Telekinetic Yeti inked a deal with <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Tee+Pee+Records%22">Tee Pee Records</a> ahead of the release of their sophomore effort. Released in 2022 and recorded with producer Phillip Cope (<a href="spotify:artist:3KdXhEwbqFHfNfSk7L9E87">Baroness</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7mO0JGOATH8fVHvgCdZsXh">Kylesa</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7FAiaaZ3AL3Rbx9HcJnYrG">Damad</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7iontmL8hXqoJcSA5oTZqa">Black Tusk</a>), Primordial saw the duo forge a cathartic, melancholic, and undeniably heavy set that trafficked in multiple heavy metal and hard rock subgenres. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
