About
Patrick Swain is an independent singer-songwriter born in 2003. Hailing from Buffalo, NY and based in Pittsburgh, PA, his self-recorded style is a synthesis of eclectic musical influences across decades . Swain’s musical journey began in an attic with his first album Vinyl Vision in 2019. Beginning as a high school project, it culminated in a portrait of a developing songwriter tinkering with his parents' music gear, released under his surname. The subsequent 2003, named for Swain's birth year, drew on past post-punk acts and contemporary indie rock to explore the claustrophobic confines of the pandemic in 2020. The four-song EP Far Go in 2021 served as a concise and reflective bridge, its fifteen minutes of music capturing a sense of longing for the future. After a three-year hiatus, Swain re-emerged under his full name, Patrick Swain, with a shift toward geographically-anchored narratives. His 2024 album Buffalo '66 is a wintery concept album and a tribute to his hometown, exploring formative memories with a sense of time-capsuled nostalgia and a blend of ‘60s-inspired power pop and adult alternative. This exploration continued with the 2025 album Pittsburgh and its Proper Nouns, a folk-rock silhouette of Swain channeling early '70s singer-songwriters' airy acoustic sound to delve into the daily intricacies of early adulthood in an unfamiliar landscape.
