Sun Urchins
Providence, Rhode Island, United States
About
Sun Urchins make loud, fuzzy rock that hits like a sugar rush and lingers like a bruise. The Providence trio layer grungey distortion with soaring vocal harmonies, writing songs that hit somewhere between catharsis and a singalong. They released their first EP, Personal Shell in 2022. Packed with tension and quiet battles, the album reflected on isolation, disillusionment, and monsters both real and imagined. Their new record Glow in the Dark weaves stories together like a dream sequence, ultimately urging you to step out of the dark and into something new. Live, they play with the kind of energy that makes a room feel small in the best way. It’s magnetic to watch three friends throw themselves into every note and turn ordinary anxieties into something bigger than themselves. For fans of Swearin, Rainer Maria, and The Beths, their songs are gritty, catchy, and full of heart.
