About
In music born from both the ethereal and the enigmatic, Sophie Woodhouse conjures a world that is all her own. The multi-instrumentalist hails from Nevada, a self-taught musician with an adoration for grainy cinema, cemeteries, prose, and femininity. Inspired by an early soundtrack filled with Blondie, Nirvana, The Cure, Nancy Sinatra, 60’s surf, and beyond; Sophie aims to weave a world reflective of both her influences and her own envisioned universe: Passionately recording from her apartment and without any label, she is conjuring a place for listeners to feel heard within the oft-surreal experience of existence. Coquette Habit was the first single to be shared from “Dear Diary,” a sweetly disillusioned glimpse at the anticipated release — And was soon to be accidentally-noticed by likeminded aesthetes via the internet, catapulting Sophie’s soprano into thousands of TikToks and reels. Followed by the “Pearl” inspired Please! I'm A Star! and the danceable French Inhale, she soon released Dear Diary: Yours Truly Edition following the initial version. “Diary” offered a wider scope of writing: The soft lullabies of her early works are there, but joined beside a fuller sound. Sophie’s next album, 2025’s Natural Blonde, is her most vivid to date, offering elements of psych-rock, electropop, and sludge; her ode to the dark grooves of the 1960’s. With visions on the horizon, the young singer shows no signs of slowing down: Aiming always for dreaminess, no matter the genre.
