Smith and The Honey Badgers
Hackney, England, United Kingdom
About
Formed in Hackney, East London, Smith and the Honey Badgers wanted to bring classic, old school, live band energy back to the grimy venues of east London. Keeping the flame alive for those who still love raw and heavy funk and soul music. Along the way this 8-piece band self-released their debut 45 before catching the attention of Funk Night Records, Detroit’s finest purveyors of independent funk and soul music, with whom the band went on to release a pair of sought after 45s. Their long-awaited debut album is arriving in Autumn 2024. Influences include James Brown, Sharon Jones, Daptone Records, obscure funk 45s and heartbreaking soul ballads.
