Sleepeaser

About

Newcastle’s alt-rock 4-piece Sleepeaser deliver a unique twist on emo rock. After the release of their debut single ‘Suffer’ in 2018 the band quickly gained momentum and landed themselves an international support slot with Hundredth. Sleepeaser’s single ‘Patterns’, released in March 2019, with its metaphorically charged lyrics caught the attention of radio personalities such as Triple J’s Richard Kingsmill, Bridget Hustwaite and Declan Baird. Not losing momentum, Sleepeaser released their debut EP ‘Everyone You Left Behind’ later that year featuring singles ‘Pain Relief’ and ‘Home Alone’ which Dave Ruby Howe describes as being “Full of that meaty inner conflict that makes a good emo track”. Their big, layered, and emotive sound quickly established Sleepeaser as a live act to keep an eye on, supporting international acts such as The Dangerous Summer and Mom Jeans in early 2020. With live shows brought to a halt due to the pandemic, Sleepeaser have been working hard behind closed doors – featuring another side to their sound with the release of the short format acoustic EP ‘Better Lies’ in July. Charged with the emotions influenced by the self-isolation of this year, in September Sleepeaser released their single and accompanying video ‘Secrets’ featuring ‘emotive riffs and yearning vocals straight from the emo playbook’ (Dave Ruby Howe, Unearthed). With no plans on slowing down, Sleepeaser are a band to watch in 2021.
