About
PDX’s Silver Medal has been writing sometimes dark, sometimes saccharine indie post-pop since mid-2016. Initially formed around a body of demos written by Jared Brannan, the project quickly expanded in scope. The band’s first full length, “Easy Doesn’t”, was released in 2017. After a follow up EP in 2019 via Portland imprint Holiday Breath records, Silver Medal decided to reunite with producer Mike Vernon Davis for their sophomore effort. “Nothing Lovely” released on November 8th, 2023. Operating now as a 5-piece, the project oscillates between tight, rhythmic indie pop structures and washed out post-rock soundscapes. These distressed arrangements make perfect pairing with Brannan’s starless existential musings, which manifest somewhere between exhausted hope and nihilistic despondency.
