Sierra Lancaster is a singer-songwriter committed to the art of what Joni Mitchell coined “confessional storytelling”. Raised in Omaha, Nebraska as the daughter of an Indian-immigrant and Nebraska native, Sierra draws inspiration from a childhood spent in a place where many people’s stories often go untold. At her core, Sierra is a storyteller - she fell in love with theatre as a child, and eventually went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. This time spent amongst so many musicians and artists inspired her to begin writing her own music, which was furthered by her work as a cultural organizer and social justice advocate. Sierra believes that stories are what allow us to witness our collective humanity, and her songwriting taps into the vulnerable complexities that make space for connection. Her songs detail journeys of discovery, heartbreak, and the grittiness of growing up, where she strives to leave no emotional stone unturned.
