About

Living on Mount Kembla, high up above the steel-city town of Wollongong on Australia's East Coast, Rhys Scoular’s journey to folk-blues-punk songsmith, makes total sense. Introduced to Elvis by his mother and Creedence by his father – with punk and hard-rock influences from his brothers record collection, including the likes of Iggy & The Stooges, New Bom Turks and Lou Reed. Yet it was discovering Bob Dylan and later Woody Guthrie and the Blues Masters (Leadbelly, Charli Patton, Robert Johnson) that changed his life. Even still, Rhys spent his high-school years and early 20’s out-front of all manner of raucous, goon-swilling punk bands, including The Dirty Kids, The Acid Monkeys, Naughty Naughty & The Good Boys and finally with The Drop-Off’s (featuring members of Chimers). He soon realised the spirit of these punk, garage and rock & roll bands could be found in his first love – folk and blues music. And that’s how we have landed here.
