About
Singer-songwriter <a href="spotify:artist:3Td9BbKTpMooyy3tdTGRCZ" data-name="Reid Parsons">Reid Parsons</a> builds music the way an architect shapes space—carefully, emotively, and with a reverence for materials. On their debut album Back to Back (out April 25), Parsons constructs an intricate soundscape that blends orchestral Americana with jazz, blues, classical, country, and soul. The Burlington, Vermont-based artist wrote, arranged, and produced the album, save for a cover of Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire.” Recorded direct to tape at Tank Recording Studio with legendary engineer Ben Collette (<a href="spotify:artist:3Felk6Y6jjU00yE1XTOqKZ" data-name="Trey Anastasio">Trey Anastasio</a>) the album is sequenced for vinyl and showcases Parsons’s expressive vocals, elegant arrangements, and impressionistic lyrics. “I strive to write from a place of simplicity,” they say. “To build a room for others to process, to emote.” Raised in Moretown, Vermont, Parsons grew up immersed in music; their sound is shaped by the landscape and pace of rural Vermont. Back to Back emerged during COVID-era solitude and reflects themes of intimacy, mental health, and self-discovery. Album tracks capture Parsons’s ability to make the personal feel universal. Funded through farming jobs and a grassroots campaign, the album is a heartfelt testament to creative resilience. “Making this record has been the most meaningful thing I’ve done in my life,” Parsons says.
