About
Based out of the Triangle region of North Carolina, Ravary is the solo-with-friends project of multinational multi-instrumentalist Justin Ravary Ellis. Consisting of songs written at home over the course of 4 years of playing and touring as a sideman in some of the southeast’s hardest-working indie bands (Easter Island, Happy Abandon, Al Riggs, Waldo Witt), the music of Ravary is an exercise in self-actualization. The songs mark Ellis’ first sung and recorded output in nearly five years, and first-ever collection of songs composed entirely alone. Equally suited for solo acoustic performance, or leading a large cast of rotating players that changes the flavor of the underlying songs from Arcade Fire-inspired folk explosions to reverb-drenched, guitar-heavy soundscapes reminiscent of DIIV and Echo & The Bunnymen, Ellis’ music explores family, loss, and all the realities and joys that come with living out your twenties (and early thirties) exactly the way desired. "Hands To Feel", the debut album from Ravary, released on June 9th, 2020. Ravary released the follow-up single "Glowing" in May 2022, with more songs to come in 2023. In addition to Ravary, Justin sings and plays bass and keys for Slow Teeth, bass for Easter Island, and drums for Ins Kino.
