Porto Ruby

Porto Ruby, raw retro-rock with 1960s psychedelic undertones, started out as AMP. in 2019 in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2023, after some backs and forths, they changed their name to Porto Ruby and started leaning more towards their current style of psychedelic garage-rock. Porto Ruby consists of three youths; Adam Jensen from Hisingen, Jon Fredriksson born and raised in Majorna now residing in Gamlestaden and Kim Strömbom from Borås, all three with previous experience of music in their own areas. Jon, formerly known as Punk-Jon, became a bit of a local celebrity when, as a 12-year-old, he roamed the streets, tinkering around with a guitar, amplifier and a battery, playing his own versions of Green Day until he was chased away by the city's security guards. Adam has previously been the bass player in the music project Karl Hund and several other bands in the Gothenburg underground scene. Kim, has a slightly different musical background as both a percussionist in Hemvärnet's orchestra and as a jazz symphonist. - Isac Meijer, 2024
