Plains Desperate Symphony
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
About
Plains Desperate Symphony is like the Canadian Nine Inch Nails. It is the primary creative outlet of myself, Justin La.Liberty. I started it in 1999 in Winnipeg, Manitoba where I wrote a double album as a solo artist called Then and Now. The PDS name is a combination of my home living in the prairies, my feelings of teenage angst and my love of symphonic music like Dmitri Shostakovich and John Williams. A few years later I moved to Calgary, Alberta and over the next couple of years members came and went with myself as the only permanent member. After getting married, having a son and then surviving stage 4 non-hodgkin's lymphoma we moved back to Winnipeg and after taking a short break I began the most prolific stage of my musical existence. Since 2018 I have released 5 albums: Mary the Sunshine Girl, Get Me Outta My Head, Collected, This is Temporary and my most recent album, 2023's Philip K Dick. This year I worked with American producer and bass player The Monogon and we released an EP called The Monogon Vs Plains Desperate Symphony on January 11th. My most recent project was creating a new version of a song from my 2018 album called They Always Know Better. Influences: Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Underworld
