About
Pine Barons, the experimental rock trio led by KC Abrams, has built a reputation for restlessly inventive albums that shift shape with each release. From the ethereal textures of The Acchin Book (2017) to the darker, pandemic-era Mirage on the Meadow (2020) and their acclaimed Fishmans tribute I LOVE FISH (2022), the band has carved out a sound that is at once personal, otherworldly, and unmistakably their own. Their new album TV MOVIE (out Sept 26) marks a luminous new chapter - playful on the surface, yet haunted by deeper themes of love, mortality, and the liminal spaces between. Abrams’ close-mic’d vocals float through sparkling, spacious production, as songs like “CRIME CINEMA” and “F.A.C.” weave surreal imagery with lush, immersive soundscapes. Even the lighter moments, like the effervescent “LILO,” pulse with an undercurrent of longing. A kaleidoscope of memory, dream, and ghostly echoes, TV MOVIE captures Pine Barons at their most adventurous and emotionally resonant—an album that flickers like an old VHS tape: fragile, fearless, and alive.
