About
Well, if we haven't said it already... Parking Garage is an alt rock power trio based in Athens, Georgia, with guitarist/singer Nathan Whatley, bassist/singer Dakota Snow, drummer Zach Ross, and trumpeter Rafal. The group started in 2017 as a high school passion project between Whatley and Snow, recording for countless hours on Whatley's Blue Snowball microphone in Snow's grandma's spare room. The band's name came from the songs Snow wrote while waiting in the parking garage to see his dying grandfather in the hospital. This culminated on the album Jaguar, where depressing subjects were paired with poppy hooks. Wanting to perform this set live, Whatley and Snow recruited a myriad of drummers before settling down with Ross, a college friend, in late 2018. With a more streamlined set-up, Parking Garage released a new batch of tracks during May 2020, the Summer Bummer EP, the first to be produced by Athens legend Jesse Mangum. The band took a hiatus during 2021 to focus on school and avoid COVID, but returned with If We Haven't Said It Already in 2022, produced by now-acclaimed indie producer Tommy Trautwein of Well Kept. This is where Rafal joined, adding brass and new dimensions to Parking Garage. Now, in 2023, Parking Garage is set to release their most ambitious single yet: the twelve-minute power pop epic "Six Finger Handshake," produced by Trautwein. Described as "deeply personal" and a "daring sonic trilogy," this new single is a whole other beast altogether.
