About

Otherglow began in 2010 as a solo recording project of songwriter Colin Larson for songs that didn't quite fit the focus of then current band Withershins. Songs slowly added up through Withershins' lifespan as they toured through some of the Midwest's most beloved venues opening for such bands as Mock Orange, The Appleseed Cast, Hum, The Life And Times, and getting to share the stage with fellow Champaign-Urbana artists American Football during Pygmalion Festival 2014, but only after moving halfway across the country and away from his band mates in Withershins did Otherglow become Larson's primary focus. Wanting to explore new ways of connecting music with people, starting in 2016 Otherglow (at that time named 'Hikikomori') has exclusively used digital means in order to engage with fans, primarily by playing virtual concerts on the livestreaming site Twitch. These concerts are not typical livestreams, but a fully automated concert experience that includes multiple high definition cameras, studio quality sound, concert lighting, and direct audience interaction. With 80's keyboards that live comfortably next to 90's indie rock guitars, and current day electronic sounds paired with often falsetto vocals that aren't afraid to sing over a mathy beat once in a while: Otherglow has a sound that both seeks the future and the past at once.
