About
New Modern is a Columbus-based alt-rock band fueled by passion, nostalgia, and a relentless drive to push their influences into a modern sound. Inspired by the tight arrangements of The Strokes, the dark rumination of Interpol, and the sonically rich arrangements of Radiohead, they aim to help put Columbus’ alternative scene on the map. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Isaac Gomez, whose influences extend from alt-rock acts like Fontaines D.C. to Mexican Cumbia, the band also features classically trained bassist Eric Stratton, whose influences range from Pink Floyd to Meshuggah, and dynamic drummer Niki, whose love for both guitar and percussion shapes their rhythmic energy. Rounding out the lineup is lead guitarist Ben Oates, who hones his songwriting prowess into melodic riffs. Together, they blend raw energy, precise musicianship, and an unmistakable passion, making New Modern the band 13-year-old them would have dreamed of.
