Evolving before your very eyes, Nematode returns with a new EP ‘Suds.’ Like Pandora’s Box, it appears neat and concise, but it oozes with sounds and sensations never felt by humans before. ‘Suds’ flows with gorgeous chaos, a grooving disorientation that envelopes your ears in an imagined scrolling of a psychedelic underwater social media feed. The EPs first single “Split” runs less than two minutes, but plays like two different songs. A sauntering pop tune that takes off into a spacier sound before phasing into the next track. The band relishes a maximal auditory experience, but knows when to align all elements into something more straight forward as needed. The next single, “By The Skin of Your Teeth”, is a ballad that evokes the same pensive moodiness of the Nematode’s debut EP ‘Pipeline’, showing maturity in the emotional and sonic range. Their newest EP ’Suds’ further blends elements of those previous releases, like the playful melodies of ‘Chum’ and the synth passages of ‘Gulp’. Formed in 2017 by Aaron Easton and Larry Flatley, and brought to life in studio and on stage with Eddy Machado, Brian Hughes, and Ross Robey, Nematode is one part pop band, one part psychedelic rock odyssey, and one part a brain-eating amoeba (with a recording studio).
