From a young age, Mykele (“Michael”) Hill believed playing it safe was the only option. Raised in a musical household, she saw firsthand how unpredictable and unglamorous a creative life could be. Still, she felt an undeniable pull toward music—filling her favorite songs with harmonies, teaching herself guitar, and quietly writing her own. Despite her early passion, Mykele spent years trying to be who she thought she should be: a good sibling, daughter, student, and employee. It wasn’t until her first heartbreak that something shifted. The words came pouring out, reconnecting her with the melodies that had always been there. Music stopped being a hobby; it became a lifeline. In grad school, overwhelmed and unfulfilled, she finally took the leap. Two years later, she’s released a series of singles and is preparing to introduce herself through her debut album. Her latest single, “She’s Seen the Sun,” is a dreamy, bouncy indie pop track born from insecurity and comparison. It transforms self-doubt into a hopeful, soaring anthem—much like her journey. Now fully leaning into her artistry as a writer, performer, and producer, Mykele blends raw storytelling with pop, country, and alt influences to create songs that are honest, melody-rich, and deeply relatable. No longer ruled by fear, she’s stepping boldly into the life she was always meant to live.
