About
My Shadow and I are a four-piece punk-rock band, Originally from Mandurah, WA. Influenced by bands like Jimmy Eat World and Story of the Year – the boys focus on writing super-catchy, guitar driven melodies to accompany their high-energy performances. Forming in early 2018 as a way of expressing their perspective on modern Australian blue-collar life, the band writes songs about overcoming mental illness, relationships and music/work life balance. Following the release of their E.P 'Submergo' in 2021, My Shadow and I are gearing up for their second single of the year 'Uh Oh' dropping on the 27th September. The nostalgic rocking track 'Monster' being the first in winter and 'Burn the Witch', a taste of something a little heavier, is set for release in summer Wheildon records and mixes the songs, while lead guitarist David Petchell manages the majority of the producing. It’s a creative partnership that has already led to two WAM Song Of The Year nominations for the tracks ‘Drugs’ in 2019 (Punk/Hardcore) and ‘Justify’ in 2021 (Regional); A feature on WAM’s ‘Demos From Binjareb Peel Region’ Recording Project with their track ‘Listening’; Airplay on Triple J's punk/hardcore show, Short.Fast.Loud for ‘Tired Eyes,’ and a spot in the semi finals of the ‘Listen Up’ National songwriting competition for ‘Black Heart’.
