About
Existential and deeply intimate- mr.culpepper's sound drifts through folk, indie, alt and rock, never settling. Their music perfectly encapsulates the post pandemic numbing dread we’ve come to know and the heartbreak we wish we did. while still staying so catchy, you’ll find yourself humming along. A jersey city native, currently based in the UK; mr. culpepper is a theatrically inclined queer trans alt-folk artist inspired by the likes of Pheobe Bridgers, Ezra Furman and Damien Rice. A storyteller the purest sense, mr.culpepper paints unconventional worlds within their lyrics— finding universal relatability through hyper specificity. This is exemplified in their debut single, John Mulaney’s Stuck in Purgatory, an empathetic yet brutal examination of addiction, guilt and Catholic stand up comedians.
