About
Monstertruck Firetruck is a punk powerhouse born from the merger of two distinct musical entities: Monstertruck and Firetruck. Originating in New Jersey in 1997, Monstertruck's unconventional twelve-piece lineup aimed to break into the NYC music scene. Hindered by logistical challenges, the band struggled to gain momentum. Following the tragic passing of creative leader Kylo Ken in 2006, remaining members BD Nick and Buck Foy explored new musical frontiers in Sweden. However, Buck's musical illiteracy hindered communication with bandmates, ultimately leading to an indefinite hiatus. Meanwhile, Firetruck, led by Mike Hawk, gained recognition for their funk-infused punk until the loss of key members in a plane accident. In 2018, fate intervened when Monstertruck's raw energy caught Hawk's attention during a performance at F. Perkin's. Recognizing potential in Buck, Hawk merged Firetruck with Monstertruck, birthing Monstertruck Firetruck. The band quickly gained acclaim for explosive performances in the New Jersey area. A pivotal moment came with a settlement from Buck's injury lawsuit, providing funds to record their debut EP, Ham Recipes, under producer Noah Sullivan's guidance in Howell, New Jersey. In 2024, filmmaker Trent Algayer directed a documentary following the band, "This Film Should be Played Loud". It won the New Lens Film Festival Jury Award and will be released 2025 MTFT currently resides in Burlington City, NJ s/o Cheyenne Dan, Format War
