About

Megafauna track breakdown 🦣 1 Early 2022 I had been in a writer’s block and this suddenly came out in a matter of minutes. It’s a sonic wake up call to open up your eyes and heart to the world around you, letting go of past troubles that weigh you down. 2 The hook came to me when I was swimming in a lake listening to Toro y Moi soundcheck at Desert Daze. I really wanted to capture a feeling of loneliness in a loving way without sounding depressing. 3 Wrote this one on my 26th birthday right as the world was shutting down from COVID. It was a really scary time so I wanted to write something full of joy to cope. 4 This one came as a response to Roe v Wade getting overturned. As a former Christian it always blows my mind how Jesus is idolized without examining his actual teachings and the fact that he was a middle eastern socialist, the furthest thing from what the US represents today. 5 Go to the Serpent Mound in Ohio on the summer solstice. That is all. 6 This is an oldie considering I wrote it at 19. I was living in my childhood home and having brief relationships that weren’t really going anywhere. I had an urge in my heart that wanted to tell people everything I was feeling, regardless of how it’d be received. 7 It came out of a relationship that was unfortunately plagued with grief. It’s about the numbness that can come from that state and trying to escape deep pain. 8 I was 17, full of joy, gratitude and about to graduate high school when this poured out of me 😊
