Mediavolo

About

Mediavolo was born in 1999, a five members’ band. An EP "Perdu dans l’espace", and an album "Soleil Sans Retour" later, the band splits and becomes a duet. Géraldine is the lyricist and lead singer. Part of several bands before joining Mediavolo, she experienced different styles of music. Jacques composes, performs, arranges and produces Mediavolo’s music. The two collaborate with 3 musicians to perform live: Lionel Prigent (drums), David Carquet (bass), and Fabrice Duhamel (Keyboards). From 2006 to 2010, the team is prolific: 3 label-signed albums, articles and reviews, videos and concerts. The public and journalists tag their music as dream pop, shoegaze, and ethereal wave. The duet, however, claims an “Art pop” rooted in the most significant decades of rock music (‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s). In 2012, Jacques and Géraldine start working on an electro side project, and put Mediavolo on pause. Only in 2016 do they begin writing new songs - the ones on Away within, Mediavolo’s latest release -, a very slow process postponed several times. Happy coincidence: just as Away Within’s about to be released, Mass Anaesthesia - a song from the 2006 album A Secret Sound - is becoming the soundtrack of thousands of videos on TikTok. resulting in millions of streams.
