About

Kyoto Lo-Fi took form in 2016 when Nico Caruso brought his Ecuador-born bedroom project to life in Dallas, Texas, eventually becoming a prominent entity in the city's thriving music scene with the help of Gabriel Anthony, Nehuen Erazo, and Paul Arevalo. Their musical style, dubbed "Post-Indie", skillfully blends influences from the legendary indie rock scene of 2000s New York, with iconic South American rock bands like Soda Stereo, and a modern infusion of psychedelia and pop. Their dedication to musical excellence has garnered recognition, including "Best Rock Act" at the Dallas Observer Music Awards in 2019. In 2020, at the Central Track Honors, they secured titles such as "Best Rock Band" and "Best Song" for their remarkable track, "Godot." They were also named "Best Indie Rock Band" and celebrated for having the "Best Guitarist" (awarded to Gabriel) in the 2020 Central Track Honors. In 2020, Kyoto Lo-Fi released their debut EP, "It's An OK Life," under the local label Field Day Records. The EP captivated the local music scene with its meticulously crafted melodies and introspective lyrics. Their mesmerizing sound extended beyond Dallas, as their track "Flowering Boulder" found a cherished place on the revered second annual Four Corners brewery Local Buzz 7" vinyl record. Furthermore, MTV took notice, featuring "Flowering Boulder" on one of their shows, introducing the band's ethereal sounds to a global audience. Connect with us, follow us everywhere: @kyotolofi
