About

ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Jenny Newman crafts evocative, storytelling-driven music that explores love, loss, and self-discovery. Raised in Connecticut, she found solace in songwriting amidst health challenges and a complicated home life. Inspired by the gospel choirs she grew up around, Newman picked up the guitar in high school, forming a band that fueled her passion for music. During the pandemic she began honing her artistry, eventually collaborating with Adam Castilla (The Colourist) on her debut EP Daydream. The EP featured her breakout single Danish Boy, which landed on the Ones to Watch playlist, solidifying her as an emerging voice in indie music. Her latest EP, Love Languages, is a deeply personal exploration of how childhood shapes love, with each track embodying a different love language. The project showcases Newman’s raw lyricism and the energy of grunge, drawing comparisons to The Cure, Hole, and Lana Del Rey. Featuring Castilla and drummer Taylor Hecox (King Shelter), Love Languages has resonated with listeners, earning recognition on emerging indie playlists, music blogs, and the Berlin Music Video Awards. With momentum building, Newman celebrated the EP’s release with a sold-out event and took the stage at the legendary Troubadour, marking a milestone moment in her career.
