Justin Thomas billed as J-Llyfe has a diverse background in music that includes songwriting, producing, supervising, and live instruments. He begin his start by joining the school choir, studying piano, and music theory at a young age and later graduated college with a B.A. in Performance Art and Directing. He found interest and influence in a range of artists, citing D’angelo, Maxwell, Jazmine Sullivan, Ray Charles, Lyfe Jennings, James Brown and Ceelo as his musical inspiration. His debut album Songs about H.E.R saw support from the likes of Youknowigotsoul, Soul bounce, Wes Berise Soulshow and Buzzmusic. From there, he has gone on to receive an Emmy nod as a music supervisor for the Daytime Emmy nominated series Tough Love. He garnered high praise for his work on the indie film circuit creating the soundtrack for Gun Voyage! The Birmingham native vocal style is a shot of sticky gospel baritone chased with a colorful smooth falsetto. He Makes his presence felt as he emotes 90s Neo-soul vibes nestled in with contemporary lush R&B vocals and production!
