When Isabel Sartain released her debut EP Coming to My Senses in May 2018 through Calliope Music Group, she formally arrived in a world she’d circled for years. What began with recording simple covers and singing in her high school choir culminated in four original tracks boasting ambient, textured arrangements and poignant lyrics drawing inspiration from Adele, Lauryn Hill, and Napalm of Hiatus Kaiyote. The LA-based singer-songwriter boasts a versatile voice, powerful yet gentle, employing impressive vocal flourishes, yet effortlessly evoking strong emotions with soulful tonality. The self-taught musician displays an undeniable raw talent, describing the defining factor of her identity to be the artful way in which she documents and relays her life’s tales. “Music is my lifeline to my emotions and my sanity,” Isabel explains. Each song she crafts is a snapshot of a paramount life moment. Isabel currently studies at Tufts University, using her multi-regional network as an advantage to reach a larger, bicoastal audience. Her debut EP dealt with candid feelings of self-exploration and the complications of modern-day romance, conveyed with what Earth to Ground Music deemed “gritty lyrics, delivered with a sweet and gentle vocal tone.” She is eager to follow up her first release with an elevated and matured body of work.
