Funky Lamp

About

"Punky Lamp" is Funky Lamp's rebellious stage: a bite-sized journey through genres that might not be expected from a band with "funk" in their name. Born in 2023 from a raw punk jam that became "Retrograde Amnesia" (known to the band as "Punky 1"), each new Punky Lamp track took a life of its own. What began as a casual experiment slowly evolved into an exploration of heavier sounds that the band began calling "Punky Lamps." The tracks appear on the album in the order they were written. Singer Holly Miller and guitarist Ben Orr were brought together by communal jams on the patio of their college dorm. Now in their fourth year as a band, the Pittsburgh-based four-piece is completed by drummer Shane Bowman and bassist Michael Frank, ushering in the band's most creative era yet. Spontaneously named after the vintage lamp that illuminates their energetic live shows, Funky Lamp blends a wide array of genres to create their smooth and original sound.
