About
Glasgow-based alt-folk-rock outfit Esther's Wife are at their core, storytellers. Using haunting vocals, enigmatic guitars and poignant lyricism the group explore their own raw emotions through characters and stories bigger than themselves. Mustering influence from icons such as Big Thief, Daffo and Slow Pulp, Esther’s Wife blends the earthy-earnest twangs of folk with a striking energy to form a voice that’s wholly unique. Though still in its infancy, Esther’s Wife’s creative forces Eve Sutherland and Bradley Maher have years of experience under their belt playing across Scotland. Sutherland and Maher have honed their talents both on the stage and in the studio boasting an impressive catalogue of singles and EPs across their previous projects Bitter Suite and Scunnurt respectively. Their experience and unorthodox perspective sets the stage for a much anticipated future as their second release 'Buckshot' makes its mark! 'Buckshot' is a a stirring and cinematic exploration of grief, guilt, and family. Imagined as a mother-child dialogue at a wake, the track captures the quiet tension of unresolved loss and generational wounds. With its minimalist instrumentation and slow-burning intensity, Buckshot positions Esthers Wife as a compelling new voice in the alt-folk landscape, one unafraid to mine their darkness with grace and vulnerability.
