About

Seattle based artist Deron Daum makes music to move you and music to make you move. His songs span from alt-rock to indie-pop, sometimes drawing on 70s art rock or 80s alternative. Rather than grunge, Daum is more in the vein of Seattle’s Death Cab for Cutie. A self-proclaimed nerd, his lyrics often draw on the stories of J.R.R. Tolkien. Daum began writing songs at age 14 and was in many cover and original bands playing keyboards and bass guitar. He cites influences from his 80s upbringing such as Tears For Fears, The Cure and New Order, but also contemporary artists like DREAMERS, Blossoms and Circa Waves. Daum released his first solo album in 2021, an eclectic blend of alternative, electronic and art rock. He then put out a series of 10 singles, demonstrating a more accessible and modern indie-pop sound. His 2nd album came out in October 2023 building on this indie-pop foundation with broad experimentation. The single “Reptyle Brainz” proved a success with distorted bass and pounding drums framed in a catchy and danceable sound. Daum released 5 singles in 2024 finding success with the indie-pop gems “Rhythms” and “Find Your Way”. He also produced his 3rd album, “Ondolindë”, enlisting Seth Paul on guitar and Anna Mariko Seymour on drums to play as a trio, live in the studio. The album is 13 tracks based on characters from Tolkien’s Silmarillion. Daum defined his own sound with this album, consisting of beautiful melodies and chords played on real instruments.
