About
Cole Brico is Coleman Greene’s first solo folk project. Under this moniker, he invites listeners to walk alongside him as he tells the stories of growing up by the river in Richmond and coming of age in the foothills of North Carolina. With honest lyricism and folk arrangements, Cole Brico’s music is patient, poetic, and raw. His first love was mandolin as an 8 year-old stuck at home after a bout with asthma. From there, Cole studied jazz guitar in his middle school years. His true training came under his father, who grew him as a listener, performer, and guitar player, and accompanied him on any instrument available in the house. To further develop as a songwriter and expand his musical horizons, Cole began to devote more time to Fordson Labs, a hip-hop collective begun by him and producer and MC Carter Ward. From 2018 to 2020, Cole Brico began writing the songs that would eventually become Bones for Rosetta (2020). This album is the story of the journey from pride to submission. It includes contributions from executive producer Ward, guitarist and bassist Kevin Greene, electric guitarist Jackson Cole, and pianist Ben Gilbert. The project falls somewhere in between the indie folk, blues, ballad, and Americana traditions.
