Love 80s Indie/Alternative but also want to listen to something current? Chorusgirl has been described as sounding like both your fave from the 80s as well as current. Chorusgirl makes noisepop, blending the sounds of Lush, the Cure, Breeders, Bangles, surf, girl groups, melodies, dirt & jangle into a shimmering mix. The lyrics are personal, delicate & introspective, but layering all of that heartache underneath enough noisy rubble & happy fizz. Chorusgirl is Anglo-German songwriter Silvi Wersing, and the name refers to the fact that Silvi spent years playing ‘chorus girl’ to other musicians’ dreams, until deciding that introverts and chorus girls should front their own shows. Fortuna Pop released Chorusgirl’s debut album in 2015 to great critical success, with the first single ‘Oh, To Be A Defector’ playlisted by BBC6. In 2018, British indie label Reckless Yes released their second album ‘Shimmer and Spin’ to rave reviews (8/10 Loud & Quiet, 5/5 Narc, 7/10 Allmusic), garnering further radio support from BBC6, Amazing Radio, and various US college radio stations. A changing line-up of friends forms around Silvi to bring her songwriting to the stage. They have played >100 shows and festivals in the UK, US, Norway, Spain, Germany, France, Sweden, supporting the likes of the Primitives, Allo Darlin, the Clientele, Wedding Present, and newcomers like Cloth, Liines, Berries. The third Chorusgirl album Colapso Calypso is due for release by Reckless Yes in Oct 2022.
