Cat Murphy Band

About

Get ready for a lively and humorous folk-rock experience with the Cat Murphy Band! Founded in 2016 by Kaitlin Deavy and her then “bandmate boyfriend” (inspiring many songs since…), this band has evolved through various lineups and continues to bring fresh energy to the stage. Drawing influences from Mumford & Sons and Taylor Swift, their music blends the familiar with their own unique twist. Known for their quirky, sometimes touching lyrics and their eclectic use of instruments—like the upright bass, banjo, and kazoo—each performance promises engrossing stories and an interactive experience. Their discography features two EPs: the charmingly DIY *Theoretically Free* (2018) and the vibrant, genre-blending *This is Our Story...* (2020). Their latest singles include the unexpectedly fun breakup anthem "I Want You Back" and "Here For You Brother," a poignant reflection on mental health in the era of Bell Let’s Talk. And as for their band name? Whether it's from a cat named Murphy or a Murphy bed with a cat on it, your guess is as good as ours!
