CAPT Blastoff (Captain Blastoff) is a solo alternative rock project by musician Tricky Myx (Brian Patrick Amyx) from the Bay Area, California. The name comes from a lyric in his childhood band's song Alien Activist by Nexusrock . While Amyx grew playing in a conventional rock band set up, CAPT Blastoff ventures deeper into new age electronic arrangements, keeping a foundation of rock, reggae, funk, and hip hop. His signature blend of 808 subwoofer kicks and electric guitar riffs bombard the stereo, keeping a smooth delivery of rapidfire vocals, unravling clever lyrics. Amyx dipped his feet into solo artist territory with the release of singles Drop It , Hibernation , and Stethoscope and dialed in his voice in his upcoming album "Battleship" which features a 10 track colorful array of compositions. “Battleship” tracks were produced and recorded by Amyx with some pre-mixing, and mixed and mastered by Chris Paxton at Nexus Audio Studio in Oakland, CA. As a youth, Amyx played percussion in middle school and took drum set lessons in high school geared towards rock, funk, Latin, and jazz. Growing up with a piano and a nylon string acoustic guitar in the house, music was always within reach, and a lot of earlier influences came from his older brothers’ taste in music. Forming bands with his buddies and shuffling instruments, he eventually moved to the frontman of the band neXus after writing a healthy contribution of the material and added electric guitar to the mix.
